KINDNESS
SCOTLAND
Kindness Scotland has been around since 2000 and is
a member of World Kindness Movement – a group
of organisations in 22 countries striving (through
kindness to others, kindness to self and to the environment)
to make this world a kinder, more caring and compassionate
place.
The idea of a World Kindness Movement took shape at
a conference in Tokyo in 1997 when the Small Kindness
Movement of Japan brought together a number of individuals
from around the world who were promoting kindness
projects. In November 2000 WKM was launched.
Members of World Kindness Movement acknowledge the
fundamental importance of human kindness as a basic
condition of a satisfying and meaningful life. They
pledge to work – through individual networks
in each member country – to build a kinder and
more compassionate world and, where possible, to set
up their own kindness groups.

WHY WORLD KINDNESS ……..
Simple acts of human kindness bestow on people the
power to initiate positive changes - everyone has
that power. All it takes is the belief that small
acts of kindness have a ripple effect that will spread,
touching and enriching other people’s lives.
