KINDNESS SCOTLAND
Kindness Scotland has been around since 2000 and is a member of the World Kindness Movement – a non-political and non-religious organisation – a group of organisations in 25 countries striving through kindness to others, to families and friends, and to the environment to make our world a kinder, more caring and compassionate place.
The idea of a World Kindness organisation came into being at a conference in Tokyo in 1997 when the Small Kindness Movement of Japan brought together a number of individuals from around the world who were already promoting kindness projects in their own countries. The World Kindness Movement was launched in November 2000 when members acknowledged the fundamental importance of human kindness as a basic condition of a satisfying and meaningful life. They pledge to work through individual networks in each member country to build a kinder and more compassionate world and where possible to set up their own kindness groups.
